Introducing my turtle!

Just thought Id put some pics up of my Peninsula Cooter up! He is Called Father Jack! [Father Ted fan!]

He is a little bigger no than he is on here but I havent managed to get any photos recently, so here he is....

I did have another, Father Dougal, a heiroglyphic river cooter, who was a bit older but he died a few months ago

Here he is;

And hers is one of them both together;

Awww they are lovely Sam - I used to have two when I was little (a long time ago ) I used to keep them in a sort of kidney shaped bowl with an island in the middle which were specially sold for terrapins then.

Aww did u! I have got a huge tank with a big Rock rising out of the water for him to sunbath on under his UV lamp! He has loads of shells and rocks in there too so he can hide and 'hunt' for food.I'll have to get some better piccies soon of him in the water
He should live for about 20-30 years if looked after properly!

Mine didn't live very long - there wasn't really a lot of information about them 35 years ago They didn't tell us about having uv lamps and things I notice they keep tortoises under uv lamps too now - they never did when I was little.

Yeah my dad had some when he was younger and said the same. Most of them originate from tropical climates ot the medditaranean. Jack is a Peninsula Cooter and I think his species originates from Florida so the UK weather isnt quite to his taste!...or mine!
