Healthy puppy treats?

After trying about 4 different brands of puppy treats that I want to use for training I am at a loss, they just give my poor puppy the runs.

I do not feed them excessively just a few a day for going to the toilet in the garden, sitting, staying etc.

Any idea's on some healthy puppy treats that are low in fat and not full of additives?

Thanks!

To be honest, we found the best treats were a bag of tesco frozen chicken fillets with a tad of garlic paste cut into tiny pieces the size of your little fingernail. Only a handful at a time though, and we take it out of her daily allowance. (without skin!)

Good value too- massive bag for £3

I like to buy the Healthy Bones. They are crunchy biscuits and the crunch seems to help clean my dog’s teeth. They have really healthy ingredients and vitamin E and Zinc for their coats. IMHO a much better choice than a lot of biscuits on the market. Natural Balance makes them.

I have always given Bella meat from the butchers. Cut it up into smaller pieces and feed. Its the cut offs, so costs me £1, but they give me some really good stuff. This week I got rabbit!

Maybe the puppy has a sensitive belly? Do you have any problems with their usual food?

If a few treats a day cause tummy trouble I wouldn't personally advise liver or liver cake, it is quite a rich food and causes frequent stomach upsets.
I would use little pieces of tesco value cooked chicken slices, Cookie has these without any problems, and chicken is the most blandest meat you could offer. Vets often suggest it after a poorly tummy.

Bits of scrambled egg could be another option.

Once she is a bit older maybe introduce more options, but treat sizes should only be the size of your little finger nail, or half that for small breed pups or those who are very food motivated.

If she really likes her food, then just use her normal dry food.
