scrumpy's got a grass-seed in his ear!

how annoying, poor little guy is really not happy, going to try and see the vet in the morning.
I cant see the seed, his ear is clean so i dont think its mites.

This will be his second seed, his first one was in '98, still got it in a little sticky plastic piece of card, it was massive!

What do they look like in their ears. Are they red or swollen. We are going on holiday next month with Star and like to be aware of things like that.

well scrumps ears arent red or anything, but the most common sign is head leaning to one side, constant shaking of head, and dog scratching at ear.

Scary thing is they grow quickly, i knew of one cat who had a grass seed growing out of its eye

Grass seeds can be very nasty things, They get into paws and ears mostly, and 'work their way in'
A good friend of mine lost her Weim, after a grass seed lodged in the dogs nose, which resulted in cancer

Ticks :smt078 Horrible things.....
There are various suggested ways of getting rid of them:

1 Smother them with vaseline or butter till they suffocate.

2 Burn them off with a hot needle or cigarette (steady hand and dog needed for that one )

3 You can buy tick remover thingys from the Vet.

4 Put frontline on the tick.

5 Scream loudly .......and get someone else to sort it out

I feed my doggs fresh garlic daily as an anti-flea and tick deterrent, dunno if it works .......yet
