New telly

Got a new TV yesterday 42 inch LCD, but I can't switch it off

If I press the off-switch it goes on standby, if I press the standby button on the remote it does the same.

I read through the instruction book and to switch off completely you have to disconnect the power cable.

It also says in the book that if you go on holiday for a few weeks you should disconnect the cable to save power, what a load of bull.

To save power Trixy the government want all of us to switch off appliances completely don't they, we're warming up the planet by leaving them on standby.

Ours is the same and as the plug socket is out of our reach way behind the tv with everything else you need one of these.
Plug the tv and everything and just use the remote to switch everything off with one click at bedtime.

You will have to let us know how the set goes as I might be in the market for a new one soon. That is a pet hate of mine to, the last two set upstairs have done it and it bugs the hell out of me.

So far it's OK Stormey, the clowns delivered an LCD one, I had ordered a Plasma one coz the screen's protected by thick perspex whereas the LCD is quite soft and could easily be damaged if hit by anything.
