I think if this is an organised training group then they need to all have the same views about training. If I had a training business then I would make sure all the trainers I employed had the same views as myself!

Vicky : if people choose to misinterpret Cesar's methods, then I don't think he can be blamed.

If any dog trainer had done this to my dog, I would have pinned him or her down and sat on his or her head ... alll 11 and a half stone of me ... and for longer than 15 minutes !!

And what was the stupid owner doing allowing such treatment of his dog?

Me neither ... although I have no experience with dangerous dogs.

Not wanting to turn this into another CM thread but.....

1. He's on tv so of course people will copy him when it appears he gets results.

2. His alpha roll is based on a nonsense theory so has no place on tv in the first place.

3. As has been highlighted by others, the owner may well have not known any better and felt unsure about querying what the trainer was doing.

The bit I highlighted.....would this go for CM as well?

Stumpy, I feel for you. I witnessed something very similar myself at a class we took Woody to once. Note I said ''once''.

It's a horrible feeling but I would hope the owner was more shocked than able to believe this was the right thing. New and first time owners can be very vulnerable with training, I know we were but I knew this was wrong the minute I saw it being done.

I think you should do what Mini has suggested, if you want to take it further of course. It would make me feel better knowing I had gotten involved and been able to do something about it. I mean the fact that you were so worried you did everything to avoid the class speaks volumes in my mind.

And, no matter whether they are doing it right or wrong CM does have alot to answer for, as Vicky says!

Why not, thats exactly what he does, on many an occasion.. you cant really misinterprate that..

As said before, some misguided people will believe the trainer KNOWS what they are doing..

Just like those who go to CM , as we see on a daily basis on his TV shows...

Those owners allow him to do the alpha role, pinning/stringing of there dogs...

Why are they different to this misguided owner.
