I have a springer x collie he is amazing off lead and the devil in every other sense! I would say for recall to use a long line just incase but to take treats and a favourite toy out somewhere safe and make it worth his while to come back- dont put him straight back on a lead (he wont come back if he knows that stops play!) there are some brilliant lead walking threads on here but i cant advise as we are not good at that!
