I'm going to ring the breeder tomorrow night and ask if she can get me copies of the notes from her vets. I'm just dreading doing it because i know how bad she feels already and I don't want her to feel any worse or for her to think i'm expecting her to pay for it or anything like that. She's already sent us a cheque to help out for fees for the biopsy i.e excess if insurance pay out and i know she'd want to help more if it came to it but i'm not comfortable with that.

Not discussed repayment schemes as yet and to be honest i didn't realise that was an option. I'm sure if we were desperate then Rich's parents might lend us the money but this would be last resort for me.

I'm fully prepared for the fact they won't pay and am 99% sure they won't so definitely not getting my hopes up as that's not in my nature! (You learn not to get your hopes up for anything pretty quick when your OH is in the forces!!)

They hve said that is worst case scenario and it could decrease if we have it done in July as the specialist is currently working out of another practice but is setting up his own specialist practice in July so this might bring costs down.

I think I want to take him to see this guy for a consultation for a more accurate quote before we decide to go ahead. The nice thing about him is that the practice is local so we wouldn't have to leave him miles away from home for a week.

it just seems like to much money, im sorry but it sounds like a rip off,
does it have to be a specialist,

does the lump have to be removed, tbh if its doing him no harm at that price I would just leave it,

Well in the words of my vet "they could have a go but no guarantees" so to me i'd rather the specialist did it. I know i should probably look for another vet on the basis of all this but i'm reluctant to move at the minute until we get sorted with insurance.

It doesn't have to be removed especially but the vet is advising we should as it could get bigger or cause him problems. If i just leave it be then I could be adding to the expense that some day I will eventually have to pay which is why i just can't work out what to do for the best.

So you think if they pay for the biopsy then they are likely to pay out for the surgery? The forms were sent off over a week ago so i will chase them up tomorrow as i'd like to know what's going on so I can start to put a plan together for what to do next.

ETA Don't feel like you're giving my false hope as i'm currently working on the fact insurance won't pay

well,in theory the claim the specialist puts in would be a continuation of the claim your vet put in,so in theory yes they should pay,but u can never guarantee it,i would defo also try and get that 'pre authorisation' thing arranged that i mentioned before.
