The BBC reported that six rescue companies, including Battersea Dogs Home and Bluecross Animal Rescue, had seen an increase in the number of dogs being abandoned due to the issues.

They suggested the numbers of animals given away had risen by nearly 40 per cent between 2014 and 2015 in some areas.

Organisations including the Royal Veterinary College, the RSPCA and the Kennel Club have echoed the warning.
My son's ex Girlfriend works at Battersea and the vast number of people giving up dogs is the same old reasons, relationship breakdown and housing issues.

Stats are kept on unwanted euthanized animals are you not aware of this
The vast number of euthanised dogs are staffies, offer a Pug for rehoming and watch a queue form.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-03-1...ns-say/8348686

Australian veterinarians and the RSPCA have called for all short-nosed dogs including pugs, Boston terriers and bulldogs to receive corrective surgery because "reckless breeding" has left them struggling to breathe.

Brachycephalic breeds are known for their wide skulls, squashed muzzles, short coats and stocky builds.

Pugs and bulldogs have become increasingly popular around the world because they cope well in apartments.

They are also the breeds of choice for celebrities, with Hugh Jackman, Lady Gaga and Leonardo DiCaprio all owning French bulldogs.

But Adjunct Professor Philip Moses from the University of Queensland said the canines often led short, uncomfortable lives.

"A dog that snores, makes a lot of noise when it's breathing, can't run around, and collapses in the heat — that is not a normal dog. And these are the problems we see in these little guys," he said

According to the RSPCA, over 80 per cent of British bulldogs are delivered by caesarean section because their large heads and narrow pelvises make natural birth virtually impossible.

Some brachycephalic dogs have trouble breathing while lying down, so they are often sleep deprived

Apparently all you can do is copy and paste, you have no personal experience of Pugs in the uk and still you persist.
You start pasting about an increase in euthanasia to support your argument but have no knowledge of the facts. The sad fact is more dogs are surrender and pts, they are not Pugs they are Staffies and bull breed crosses.
A Pug will always find a home.
I'm not even reading your copy and paste, why would I?

Oh dear SOME Pugs have trouble breathing when lying down.
SOME Labradors are so crippled by hip dysplacia they can't walk.
Some Dobermanns are riddled with Cancer.
Some Boxers have kidney disease.

And it goes on................................................ ...........

As long as I copy and paste you need to argue with Adjunct Professor Philip Moses from the University of Queensland.

Pug puppies are being put down in droves because idiots want Lady GooGoos, or Leonardo DiCooprios dog

Very sad

Is the RSPCA recommending that people not buy Labs?
