Shar pei pimples.

Hello all, I have a 3 year old Shar pei this is mainly a question for my own curiosity. He has pimple like bumps all over his head they have been there for 2 years and don't bother him when I touch then but does anyone know if this is normal? Many thanks Barry.

I haven't got a clue but I would say this is normal Shar Pei-ness!
The next time he goes for his vaccinations why not ask the vet?

It looks like cutaneous mucinosis or HCH (Heriditary Cutaneous Hyaluronosis) as it's now called which is fairly common in Shar-Pei and are the reason they have wrinkles! You can learn more about it by looking online.

Providing the bumps/bubbles don't become weepy and sticky there's nothing to worry about. Nevertheless, I'd let the vet check them during your next visit.

My first Pei had some on her hind legs which never caused her any problems.

Thank's iv actually been a member since 2009 when i got my staffy bluebell. Boh the shar pei is a little under 3 now he defiantly is different to any other breed iv had in terms of personality he's very laid back but stubborn and im not 100% he knows he's a dog yet.

I know what you mean about Pei not being a 100% sure they're dogs. Georgina's quite convinced there are only two dogs in the whole wide world ... her and her Mini Schnauzer brother All other dogs she treats as though they're invisible!
