Pepsi killed a mouse :(

Pepsi has been rummaging around where I keep the plant pots, behind the greenhouse all day.
Then she went quiet and came back in doors. Not long after we realised there was a dead mouse on the path
Not a lot I can do really, it's in her nature isn't to hunt out little furry things.
I don't really want to keep her in just because I've got a garden full of kamakasi field mice. Not nice though

Poor little mouse, but like you and Vicki say, it's her nature. Max went through a spate of killing mice. We would be walking along, he would spin round, grab one that I'd not even noticed and kill it. It was quite impressive hunting skills but I did feel sorry for the mice. He got 3 in one week, all on different walks.

Bless her, I bet she was really pleased with herself! There isn't much you can do about it.

Really pleased I didn't actually see the deed.
I wonder if she has been used for ratting or something, she has one hell of a prey drive.
Now that she has caught it and disposed of it she has lost all interest and is fast asleep in the living room.

She's a terrier and will have a higher prey drive than most breeds, although to be honest my poodles have killed far more than my terriers ever did!
I wouldn't worry about it, it's what dogs do, and most dogs would given the chance whether they are long time companion bred breed or a working one.

Surely as she only has the one dog then it is not deemed 'hunting'?

Can't say that I am terribly worried by it. It's what happens. Just not a nice thought, even though I know it is what Terriers do.

Dawn don't say R.A.T. I don't want rats in the garden
