Where does this name come from?

When i was a child we had a Saluki called Alquin, Have never been able to find out where this name comes from or what it means, Can anyone help? A little old lady down the road had a Pug and she liked the name Alquin so much but didn't want to copy so she called him Alfin!!!

Thats what I found too.

In the 1970's there was a Dutch Band named Threshold Fear who then changed their name to Alquin after their rehearsal space "Alcuin".
