Some dog owners....

Don't know anything about the breed they own!

Last night at training got talking to the owner of a 16 week old Dogue de Bordeaux (gorgeous :smt049 )

She couldn't believe the size of Murphy at 7 months old and her comment after that was:

"I saw a full grown male DDB the other day... I didn't know they got that big"

OK, hang on! You've bought a puppy DDB and you don't know how big they get as adults??

Sure, they're lovely cute wrinkly puppies (for about 2 months) and then they grow! And grow!

At 16 weeks, this pup wasn't far off being Murphy's size....

My reply to her was "Yes, they are very large aren't they...."

Didn't she see the mother of the pups ? That would give a clue to the size, surely??

She obviously did not do her homework.
Hope this is not another one that will end up in rescue because it has become too big.

Will people never learn...........

It makes me wonder why I bother putting weeks and months of homework into getting an animal and try to encourage others to do the same. There are still so many people who take a pet on without any knowledge and no inclination to learn.
We have twice ended up with pets that we didn't research, both on extreme short notice, but both times we have had a sound foundation of knowledge and put a lot of time, effort and money into researching the particular breed and ensuring that we had knowledgeable people that we could go to as and when we had questions.

what an idiot, hopefully the dog won't end up being rehomed when it's fully grown coz it's 'too big'
