i dont see dogs being tied to a chain as getting an even share that is my point. altought i do show my dog but he does get his fair share in the woods and at parks is free to rome the house and the garden.and is in no way fat as arent all the peoples show dogs on here ive met ,neither were there dogs in there pedigree made to fight in the last 5 generations or do you here anyone showing boast about how there great great grand sire held a dog for 2 hours in a fight to me that is not a fare share.
Who mentioned anything about fighting, who was boasting about what their dogs parents/grandparents had done? Or dogs fighting for 2 hours etc, certainly not me & I dont see it mentioned here that would be daft. Kennel dogs will always get less attention than house dogs it is a simple fact just like breeders/showers with 10 dogs will have less time to give individual dogs than if they had just one or 2. I dont really understand where this is going now...

Archer I dont think that is always the case, there are as many people for KC here as there are not and both have aired their views quite a bit. People have to accept that we dont all think or feel the same...

Pete back to my original question - what is worrying about dogs out on a chain?

dogs dont suffer at shows Jess its no different to people who do working trials, or weight pulling etc.

and actually my KC registered dogs do have a loving family couch (which most of the time WE can't get on because they are sleeping on it !! ) My dogs are my babies, and get treated as such, i feed them, walk them, play with them, cuddle them, train them, and do all the things (and possibly more) that normal non registered dogs owners do that dont show, my dogs are first and foremost pets, IF they turn out to be good enough for the show ring then that is a bonus, if not, they do not get treated any different, in my breed i have not met many people who do not treat their dogs in the same way as me, the dogs are kept inside, taking over the couch or beds, and live like kings/queens !!

i metioned the boasting about dog fights laura because if you visit irish staff dog sites thats what they do, and how many wins the dogs in there ped has won.

and to answer the dog chained question i had already answered it saying that i dont think the dogs getting its fair share of the pleasure .

Well Rocky

That is great I am truly happy, like I said it was not a slant at ALL show dogs, I have seen some cracking examples it's just I tend to find with the bull breeds I see more bad than good. Just my own personal experience.

I am glad your dogs live indoors and others, my dogs live indoors too you make it sound like I was saying that living indoors was/is a bad thing?

Who brought the other Irish Stafford sites into it? Just curious.

So kennel dogs or dogs chained outside get less attention yes but as long as they are well looked after and kept in a good condition what is the problem if they get a few hours less than house dogs? I am sure they get their fair share of pleasure they still need to be walked, socialised etc. A lot of top (winning) breeders have their dogs kenneled due to the amount of dogs they have.....do their dogs suffer? I dont think so. Just a different way of keeping dogs.

i dont understand why anyone would want a dfog and for it to live on a chain in a yard or live in kennels? this is obviousley just my opinion but what i get out of a dog is having him follow me round the house and keep my feet warm while i watch the telly and run round and play with the kids. i feel sorry for dogs who are not part of a family whether they be kc showing working whatever i think it is such a shame as dogs are mans best friend and they get so much pleasure from being with people. i have given up leaving max at home and he comes to work with me(i am very fortunate their i know) and school and he is my little best mate and he loves it. i think people who do and dont look after their dogs are from all walks showing/non showing kc/ non kc some people just do not see dogs in the same way as others
