Where Would I Enter Jack?

Jack is a very handsome Patterdale ( at least we think so)

I assume that makes him a cross breed as Patties arent KC registered???

Is that right? I dont know also, does your dog have to be registered on the non pedigree list to enter?
You can all tell me I'm an idiot if that was a really stupid question. I've never shown a dog before ( except dog the judge would most like to take home, my old girl got a second )

Just because a dog isn't KC recognised it doesn't mean they're cross breeds.

He cant be shown in KC conformation classes but he can be registered on the activities register so he can do all the other dog 'sports' (flyball, agility etc)
Alternatively he can be entered at working terrier shows that are held around the country.

So what about at a companion dog show. Can he be entered in just the cross class or the pedigree too??

For specific KC licensed Companion Dog Club shows, details are here :

http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/acti..._dog_club.html

No registration is needed at all for other Fun shows, and all breeds and mixes, recognised or not can enter those.

[ If you do enter any, take a camera ]

Terrier shows are popular for Patts, always loads going on, country fair etc. at the same place, often terrier racing too.

As far as I'm aware you can show him as a pedigree at Companion SHows. I know people who have show short legged jacks in the pedigree classes.

Thanks all for the advice. I havent done the show thing before but I thought it might just be a bit of fun for the whole family. A day out and all that. I'll def look into the terrier shows. I think he would be great at racing, but as for the more serious stuff, maybe we'll just stick to Fun shows. Maybe my son (9) could take him in a couple of junior classes.

Well just go and have fun. I know there are some really sad people out there who take companion shows seriously (I was at one where the person who didn't win BIS complained to the KC ) but really just have fun, your son doing junior handling would be a great way to get him involved and just have a fun day out and it's usually for a good cause too.
Besides you get far more pressies at a companion show than any of the others!
