Harness for starting out running with dog

Hi Im looking for recommendations for a harness for Maddi for when I go running with her. It will need to be one she can't get out of as part of our route includes roads. Ive looked at one's specifically designed for cani-cross and they seem very expensive and also many dont do them in a size that would fit Maddi as she's too little! We are just starting out and I wondered which normal harnesses will be okay for her to wear and won't rub as she has a very thin coat particularly under her arms. I've read that I should be avoiding x back ones?? Also any recommendations as to where I can find a bungee lead much appreciated.

I use fleece harnesses from Cosy Dogs when I run with my whippets. They also have very thin fur prone to rubbing and these harnesses are just the ticket.

My terrier has one from Snuggle Pets. Got it when she was 6 months old and it is still going strong three years later. My Slovak also had one from there but it only lasted less than a year before the buckles broke and it started to come apart.

My Slovak now has the 'Perfect Fit' harness from Dog Games: http://dog-games-shop.co.uk/perfect-...ce-dog-harness. Highly recommended for strong dogs, plus the company are really helpful too.

I would recommend the Perfect Fit harness for a large dog over the Snuggle Pets one.

Thank you these look really great! very comfy!! Maddie is only little but is a strong puller she's all muscle! Are they quite strong? Also there sizes seem a bit strange. Mads is 52.5 cm around the chest the size 1 is 45-55 and size 2 is 43-64?? Think i would go with a 2 but it might be too big??

Oh thats a shame i was liking the snuggle pets one but Mads is really quite strong so it sounds like it wouldn't be suitable. I like the sound of the perfect fit harness.

are you wanting her to pull and help you? if so you really need a harness which is designed for this purpose, as this allows the dog to use himself anf weight to help you. Other harnesses sit to discourage the dog from pulling and could result in muscle damage.
