What a dreadful waste and a disgrace! (Golden Eagle)

ONE breeding pair of Golden Eagles, and some sick idiot poisons one of them!

There are some vile people about and I still don't understand the logic of why they do it.

But from what I've read and seen of Golden Eagles they take mammals more than birds. Besides, what right do they have to destroy a wiold bird to protect birds they are just going to shoot in any event. They are hardly going to wipe out the entire grouse population are they.

I think it's a bit unfair assuming gamekeeping has something to do with it. Interestingly earlier in the year I was able to see some peregrines near their nest. I can't say where as I was told not to repeat where I had seen them. They were discovered by the local gamekeeper who reported the nest and the chicks were tagged accordingly. At the time it was said they had to be very careful as if anything happened to these chicks the gamekeeper would be the one under suspiscion, rightly or wrongly, even though it was him who drew attention to these chicks and has done everything to help protect them. Birds of prey that have been found on the land injured have also gone to the local Bird of Prey centre for help. So although there are problems, not all gamekeepers should be tarred with the same brush, let the law do their work.
