yeah heard of that, i laughed at the 'hit them with a paddle', but i do like bat-skis.
one of my first 'campaigns' (i was 13) was to a petition to stop the forest getting knocked down to build houses on. there were protected bats, and the sspca confirmed they were living there and so for another year we had our little forest. then the following year they knocked it down and kept only a 'row' of trees that were 'protected'. its all about money.

I would love to have bats living in my attic - we have them fly around here a lot but none of them have made home yet!

Emm you could always put up a bat box if possible for them to see if they want to live in that
I'm not sure where you would get one from but if you contact your local wildlife people I'm sure they would be willing to help you

We live opposite a church and you can see them flying up and down the lane at dusk. If I walk the dogs at that time they fly around you! An amazing feeling, same thing happens with the house martins at dawn!
