Whether or not my dogs go through doors BEFORE ME, WITH ME or AFTER ME depends on the context.

Nothing to do with "old school".

Again, this is just common sense to many of us.

But this thread is a good example of how people infer things from an outlook which are not implied by others.

Very revealing.

I am afraid it was Amanda who lumped dogs not being allowed on furniture with:

choke chains, shouting, smack on the nose, physical manipulation, sound aversion like rattle bottles, scruffing, alpha rolling,
Not me!

But 2 + 2 does not = 5, remember. Amanda was merely listing a bunch of methods that she feels are old school, she didn't say that they were cruel.

Ok, last time I'm going to respond to this as its getting boring. I have repeatedly explained that these things CAN BE part of, in my opinion, an old school mind set.

So if I say carrots, cabbages, sausages and swede am I automatically implying that sausages are a vegetable? No, you are making you're own assumptions....

My dog is not allowed on furniture nor out of the front door before me. That doesn't mean that these things cannot ALSO be old school too, it depends on context. You decided to interprete it like that (albeit incorrectly!)....

I didn't give my opinion on old school methods. I might think they are wonderful....

Anyway it's Friday night so I'm off to have a glass of wine on my dog free sofa....cos I'm old school and cruel like that

So does that mean none of them ARE cruel then?
