We have to had an accidental mating. Our youngest son let the male out and he got to the girls. I cant blame him for it but i took her straight to the vets for injections to stop any pregnancy. I dont know if she did fall as i stopped the risk straight away. My boy is now neutered even though he was an amazing stud dog but i wont have risks like that again. My bichons have just the basic normal health checks at the vets and check for Luxating patella but apart from that i have tried to research and even asked a specialist and several vets what i need to test and they all say what i do is fine. The cavaliers i use are heart and eye tested and will also have the new curly coat and dry eye tests done since they came out this year.
Its so hard to be a breeder and not be shot down for it. there is always going to be people who dont like or agree with it but thats life.
I think being only 1 yrs old should she have to injections NOW not when you see if she is pregnant or not. she isnt ready. I know a lady who has a lab and had 3 litters in a row. so so sad..
