Clicker training for food stealing?

Hi there. Just wanted to see if anybody had any thoughts on trying clicker training to try and reduce Pippy's food stealing. Pippy is 7 months now and is mostly a very sociable, well behaved darling doggy. Until food comes into the equation!!

She constantly tries to jump up when we are eating and also jumps up at the counter when we are preparing food. She is excellent at the off command but ignores it with reference to the table/counter. We have tried giving her kongs etc but she isn't really interested. She gets good quality dry food 3 times a day with additional treats (on walks and in the house - we always ask her to sit and wait for the treat and she is excellent at this.) and she is never fed from the table.

Any thoughts? Thanks!!
Jen and Pips

Brilliant - thanks for this! Look like I'll be off to the pet shop for a clicker tomorrow. Thanks for the link!

Thanks so much for the links. I will definitely give them a go. Pippy just seems to be so fixated on getting to any food available (including her own poo, sticks in the garden, chunks of turf, sylvanian families and any other random stuff lying around...) so hopefully this will improve the situation!! She is definitely not hungry as she will eat a bowl of food then immeadiately start trying to steal food.
