Would a dog need to already know how to track? I'm talking in relation to working with a handler rather than tracking a running pheasant of their own volition for example.
I don't know what the standard of the tests are that are being run by HPR people so cannot comment, I doubt it, what they are looking for if I remember correctly is APTITUDE.

There is talk of a training day being organised for autumn so i'll be keeping my eyes peeled for that.

I think Kimmax and Trudvang compete abroad as they prefer the Continents way of judging and awarding dogs, not much has been done in the UK from what i've just read.

But anyway, sounds like your dog did very well and you both had a great day.

On4th of June the Lothian & Borders Gundog Association held a Blood Tracking Test. The judge for the day was Christian Harbo of Denmark with the test leader being Niels Jorgen Christiansen of Denmark. Christian Harbo is a recognised Schweiss Judge in Denmark & has judged hundreds of dogs in tests, if not thousands. It was good to have the opportunity to have an experienced specialist judge assess the hounds.

The track was 400m using 100ml of deer blood and laid using track shoes, 3hours of age.

Chris Gray got a Grade 1 with both his Trudvang GWPs.

Yes, just read that on another forum. I'd very much like a Trudvang GWP but I feel that I would need to work it properly as he breeds very capable dogs that are truly versatile in the field. Not sure he'd sell to a 'dabbler' like me!
