Why do dogs eat their sick

Ok, it must be some sort of survival technique passed down from the wolves but why do dogs eat their sick?

I'm having a debate with someone about whether dogs actually care how food tastes and they said they can't do because they eat sick...

So a proper reason for this would be much appreciated!

Because they are disgusting?

Roxy likes to eat up the cats sick too

Dogs regurgitate food for puppies which is then happily consumed and also they are opportunists so they wont pass up a meal for anything!

Takara won't eat her sick for anyone, only disgusting thing she eats is manure and rabbit poo.

Eddy cleans his sick up straight away, you have a job stopping him.

I have to say that none of my dogs when they have vomited has it been in anyway fully digested, so I suppose it's very much like regurgitating for pups. The only bitch I had that did bring food up when she had pups quickly ate it all herself so the pups couldn't have any lol!

Why are dogs/puppies SOooo disgusting, Max has only been sick once and he was straight in there trying to gobble it back up! Think he though all that food i may not get fed again so best not give it up just yet!

The lastest thing is eating his poo (VILE DOG) think he's cleaning up for me Yuck!!!

whack a chunk of pineapple in his food, that worked with one of mine!

Eating their own poo, makes it taste bad to them, not sure about sick!

thanks for that becky I'll give it a go, with him having a dodgy tummy for a while i've been on poo-watch and the little blighter's been eating some of the evidence
