Can higher protein dog food cause kidney problems?

I've read a couple of posts on other forums that say higher protein dog foods can cause kidney problems, anyone know if this is right? The Wafcol Salmon and Potato I'm feeding my 2 is 24% protein so I'm just a bit concerned. From what I read around 20% protein is ideal. Should I be looking at a food for them that's a bit lower in protein? They are both fine health wise, lovely coats, poos fine, energy fine etc. Anyone clued up on protein levels?
Thanks

I don't think it causes problems except in dogs who are susceptable I feed mine 24% but the food they sent when they had none of my usual was 26% & I've seen food as high as 30% so I shouldn't worry.
