Unbelievable

Today. Whilst out shopping in my local precinct, I notice an unusual dog.
Like always, just have to be nosey, I thought. Went over to the young man, we got chatting and I asked him what sort of dog it was. Its was a larged size, colour fawn with a black mask but some reddey tan above the eyes
He replied " a Rottstiff". I said "awhat", and he replied again "a Rottstiff". I asked him did he mean a cross, he got quiet upset saying "NO. I paid £500 for him." I asked the man where he got him from, he told me some name and said he was a breeder. I asked if he came with papers. He said the understanding was once the dog was 1yrs old and neutered, he could then return for the papers?.
I couldnt tell the man, it sounded as though he had been conned. Well I asked him for the breeders number as I would be interested in the breed.
He gave me the mobile number, I tried but guess what:- its unobtainable
So it looks like this man, was sucked in good and proper.

Stu works with a chap whos mate bought a staffy for three hundred quid with no papers but was told by the "breeder" that the vet would supply the papers for the pup and he believed him

also asked if people who showed dogs would be interested in mating with an unregistered dog - erm... I dont think so ...

It could possibly have been a Rottweilier Cross Mastiff (not nec English Mastiff), it could have been a purposley bred outcross for working. I have heard of such a breed before and have seen some impressive examples of this mix.

The thing with the papers sounds dodgy but some breeders will do this if the dog is out on terms that it never gets bred. Seems pretty responsible if you ask me.

This way we have less crossbreeds out there, now when I say crossbreed I mean scatter bred mongrels not purposley bred crosses. Perhaps most pups were working dogs but the few that were sold to pet homes went out on terms that they were never bred hence the fact that they would only get papers on having the dog neutered?

Just a possibility.

Out of interest who was the breeder, I know somebody (responsible very responsible) who breeds this type.
