Symptom? Or just fat?

I`m a little concerned about the fact Razzle/ Bear has a pot belly.
His coat is wonderful and he is eating less, if anything, so it`s not cushings.
His poos are normal so it`s not a blockage.
He`s widdling and drinking OK.
I can palpate his belly all over and he shows no sign of pain.
He has little muscle tone which makes his shape odd anyway, and his coat is very thick which makes him look very wide any way, but I am a little concerned.
Any suggestions what to check for?

I presume he is also up to date with his worming as well. Other than that it may possibly be down to his age if he is getting older now (can't remember how old he is offhand). like me he is getting saggy bits.
I wouldn't go rushing off to the vets if he is fine in every other way, but perhaps next time you are there then, mention it if you are worried or if it changes in any other way..

I would get him booked in for a once over at the vet

How is he exercise breathing wise?

Do you think its fluid or air?

Heart issues can cause fluid to build up amongst other things...

Off to the vets the pair of you x

Georgie's coat was soft and wonderful when he had cushings, the best coat he ever had in fact bearing in mind his previous skin issues, and he ate less, so you can't really say that it's definitely "not" cushings I don't think? You need a blood test to be sure, that's what confirmed his. Good luck, but cushing's not that bad, it's controllable.

Good luck with your bear, could he be a bit wormy perhaps?

I would worm first and then see if there is a change... Seeing as I imagine the vet would not be a nice experience for either of you and a last resort really.

yes - will do. I can pick up some wormer at the PDSA.
He`s not insured yet - that`s next on my to do list. There is a vet opened up within walking distance so I`m hoping that in a few weeks we could get him there if necessary.

How does his weight compare to what a normal GSD of his age should be?

That's good news about the vet.
