Question from a friend,

shes not a member (as yet) so i said i would ask this question for her.
she has a bitch staffie x lab, she will be a year old in october, lovely little girl,
her question. the neighbours have just got a 10 week puppy and this little fella has taken a liking to her dog (pepsie) and tried to suckle from her. well this was last week and since then pepsie has started producing milk, she had 1 season, and was kept firmly under control. so no accidents. is this normal???
many thanx

Females that have never given birth (in any species including humans) can and do lactate.

Google breast feeding mothers of adopted babies.......

Personally I would not permit it.

This used to happen to one of my bitches, if I ever brought a litter of kittens home from work to hand rear, you could guarantee Lucy would come into milk
