Happy Gotcha Day Leo!
One whole year today.. and what a journey he has been on.
Leo is an ex puppy farm stud dog of around 6 years old. He went blind through Glaucoma and had to have one of his eyes removed the day he was rescued. He was such a scared dog that he would hide under the table and couldnt be touched. Getting his lead on was a mission of chasing him around until you finally cornered him. This terrified Leo who would bash into any object in front of him.
A week after he came home he had to be shaved almost bald as his undercoat was so matted. We kept a harness on him 24/7 to make it easier to catch him.
Leo after several baths and grooming atempts.
Unfortunately his undercoat was impossible to fix so ....
He was not impressed with this look!
This last year we have taken him to many different places and worked on socialisation. He now comes when called, knows sit and down, jumps on the sofa for a hug, gives kisses, adores his girls and will even say hi to strangers. He loves his walks and wanders offlead on a safely enclosed park. The only problem we have with him is when overly energetic dogs come racing up to him to play. Obviously he has no idea the size or intent of these dogs and will stand his ground barking and snapping until they leave him alone.
He has won many rosettes at companion shows in the last year including lots for Best rescue, Best long coat and even one for handomest dog!
Hopefully he will now have many happy years of freedom and love here with my pack.
