Bessie, Staffie x Terrier, DOB 04 - Twickenham

Bessie, Staffie x Terrier, DOB 04 - Twickenham

Homing Requirements: Bessie needs a Staffie or terrier experienced home as she can get nervous when approached directly by tall men and has on occassion got caught up in barking. Easily distracted once back on lead or if the person engages with her on her level, she soon trusts. Alert to people at the door and post etc. A little Miss Terrier who you should delight in. Has lived with children. Can be left. Off lead and loves to play with dogs.

Her Story: Bessie was gifted into Battersea in season in June 2010. She had lived with children successfully. Was a bit barky in her kennel if she felt threatened, but settled. Had a few incidents of barking and displaying her nerves in public when out over the park which was calmed by the person coming down to her level and forming friendship. She also had a incident of meeting loud lads down an alley and grabbing one's arm, but immediately released and no harm done. Current owner too nervous herself to work through this trust issue. Bessie has gained confidence and settled well in other areas. We are spaying her on 25th Oct. She is already chipped and vax'd. Her owner is fostering her with her 3 children until a suitable, more confident home is found.

Advert: Bessie is sooo loving. Bessie is sooo trainable. We rarely mention agility, but yes she is an agility candidate! Bessie is gentle and not only a people person, but a dog person too. Yes, no doubt she has had her moments in the past and will do again; she is a terrier, but she loves to meet and is quite submissive in most greetings. If her nerves kick in she can start to bark and because she is currently off lead, she can get a little caught up in it. Our suggestion is to retain on an extender lead and ensure introductions are managed with reassurance and she will soon be conversant in any situation ... she is a star dog.

Bessie is still finding herself in her recent homing which has become her foster home. She settles quickly when left, both overnight and during the day, without fuss. She loves her soft comfortable bed and does alot of circling and nesting. She loves balls and fetches really well and her recall is fantastic, dropping the ball as she anticipates a treat and she is into formal 'please and acceptance' mode. Did we say Bessie is a star?

If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

***PLEASE NOTE: We are a rescue finding dogs their forever homes. We usually ask for a minimum donation of £150 at the time of adoption, for each dog, to help us continue helping homeless dogs***.

Do like to start the day on a happy note! Needless to say, Bessie is going nowhere and is staying permanently with her foster home! She is already home!
