The different types of show/competition?

Posters keep saying open shows, companion, champ show etc I just wondered if someone could explain the different types?

It depends which activity you are talking about! I can only tell you about agility shows. An open show is one that has no restriction on it, such as limiting the numbers who can enter, the type of dog that can enter, etc. A champ show is one which can host a championship competition as well as ordinary classes. In agility, only grade 7 (top grade) dogs can enter champ classes which comprise an agility round, a jumping round and a final. When a dog has won three finals, they can call themselves Agility Champion.
