I've never heard of them. But I did get a sudden vision of you having a dog that thought it was fun to ring, just because they could...........can you imagin that. A dog ringing a bell just for the hell of it

a few of my jack russell owning friends in the US have done just that.
and there has been one dog who just does it for attention, not only because he needed out.

HAHA, my dog would press it just to get attention. He usually hits the door when he wants out (the back door). But if we are busy and he's trying to get our attention he'll go hit the door!!

My dogs use one! It's a big brass push bell like you have on reception desks in offices. It's on the floor by the patio door and they will press it when they want to go out. I trained them to press it with clicker training when we got the youngest last Nov as she was really good at aking to go out to toilet from day one but wanted to make sure I caught her if I'd popped to the kitchen or wherever. They both picked it up really quickly.

If I ever knock it when I'm cleaning etc, they both come running to the door!
