Ask Dad.....and they all go over to Pat
Tell Dad....they place a paw on him and then go into the kitchen (thats his cue to open the back door )

Merlin knows absolutely loads.... which may be the Border Collie side of him. Just trying to think of a few -
Bone.
Shops (means going out, either us or him).
Walk.
Dinner.
Tripe.
Cows.
Sheep.
Pussycat (in a nice way, not the way people get dogs to go mad when they say Cats! Cats! - he is very fond of cats).
Birds (a recent one he's picked up from us, as we have starlings coming into the garden to feed during the cold weather).
Hedgehog (one was in the garden last year & he's never forgotten).
Squirrel/s.
Snow (believe it or not - another recent addition).
Bus.
Train.
Swim (yup, he knows what that means!)

then he knows most of his toys by name -
Ball
Tongue (Humungatongue)
Foxy (skinneez)
Wilson (his big spacehopper toy which didn't have the face printed on it, the pet shop were going to send it back but I said I'd have it, draw a face on and call it Wilson as in the Castaway film!)
Squeaky (any that does)
Piggy (grunty pig)

And then he knows many people by name too - if you say their name he starts looking for them... For instance, he's very fond of my mum's neighbour, Martin. We were watching a wildlife show on TV one night and mum asked: "What's that animal, then?"
"A pine marten," I replied and Merlin leapt up and started looking for Martin...
