Gentle Leader - help please

Went to PAH today to get Len a Canny Collar, but they didn't have any, so I came away with a Gentle Leader. I've followed the fitting instructions and we've had our first walk.

To say Len's not impressed is an understatement, but we will persevere.

One question - when fitting I appear to have "a bit left over" - if you use a Gentle Leader, please let me know and I'll explain what bit and then perhaps you can explain where this "bit" should be

Thanks

Here it is on him:

Here's my extra bit - I wouldn't have worried about it had it not had a loop in the end......

Here's the bit where you attach the lead, which is under his chin:

Do these photo's help Muddiwarx?

Its jsut the bit that is left after you adjust it to his size..

I used and elastic band and sort of folded it and secured it to the collar bit and wrapped the band over and over to hold it tight..

We had the same problem with the gentle leader.. my dogs hate the control being under their chin.. they accept the control from behind their head on the canny collar better..

A-ha - that's what I thought, it was just the loop on the end that confused me - why is it there? Anyway, I would have preferred a Canny, but we'll give this a try and see how we go - it may be a no-no......but we'll try. Thanks for the clarification

My thought is : Is this not the bit you loop through the collar to ensure still attached if the dog 'backs' out the headcollar - the halti used to supply a loop?

Just fold the loop over (underneath) and then fold it again inline with the main collar strap and put a hairband or something over the end.. and secure it.. that way it can't get caught on anything..

Just gives you peace of mind that its not flapping about

No that is the bit under the chin.. the halti link clips onto the silver ring and then clips onto the collar ring..

The black fabric loop is simply the end of the collar bit on the GL
