Treats!

I always have a pocket full of treats so when i call Vegas to me-he can expect something.Whenever i give him a biccy in the house-he must always do something to deserve it like sit, give paw etc.

ps.Only thing with having food in your pocket when out is other dogs we see have learnt this and come running up for a biccy!

Relax
If you try to train when you are uptight it won't happen...take a breath and relax ...then your dog will too

Never try to go too 'fast' make sure your dog has really understood the command you are teaching it before moving on.

Little and often.

Once something has been learned remember to keep reinforcing that training - don't assume that you can stop the training just because your dog seems to have got the required behaviour off pat.

I cant decide on a top 1, but my main 2 are:
Use treats that they dont often get, beef and chicken in my case.
Most of all make it fun.

This came in handy for me once. I was at the park with Missy and a young woman was having trouble getting her dog to come to her so she could put it on a lead. The dog , a nice collie cross , came over and wanted to play with Missy. I chatted with the woman , then called Missy who , as always , raced over and sat at my feet . The collie X followed her and they both got one of the treats I ALWAYS have in my pocket. We let the dogs run off and play again then I called Missy again. Collie X came too , both dogs got another treat , the lady then managed to get her dog's lead on and everyone was happy. Personally , I like all of the tips posted and I use them all .
