How Difficult Can It be?

To find someone with a van who could collect a 3 piece suite for me. I have been offered a lovely leather suite from someone on Freecycle, but do you think I can find anyone with a van that could collect it for me. I am willing to pay for thier time and costs, but the only people I can find are people who do it for a living and they charge the earth.
I really don't want to miss out onn this, so if any of you know of anyone with a van in Colchester or Harwich area, who would be willing to help, could you let me know please.

Look for a single handed handy man in your area, they may be willing to do it quite cheap

When I needed someone to move something over to me I looked in the classified advs in the local paper and there were a few in there, and just rang them and got a quote and took the cheapest!!
Worth looking in newsagents windows as well, that sort of thing

Small ads and shop windows as Tawneywolf says - usually there are "man with van" adverts there. I saw some when we were looking for builders. Failing that can you hire one for a day? You'd need a transit size one to fit the sofa in, but I'm sure you can drive those on an ordinary license.
Here has transits from £35 per day and they serve Colchester

Do you have a branch of Arnold Clark near to you?

When I moved house I rented a trasit for about £40 for the day!

Thanks for your replies. I have never driven a van so didn't want to hire one myself as would probably crash it LOL.
I have now found someone to do it for £30 and a cup of tea
Bit better than the £60 -£100 quotes I had been getting.
Yaaay getting my much wanted leather sofa at long last.
