I've never had ferrets, but an old school friend of mine had two. They were so friendly and she would walk them on harnesses - so very interactive

So sorry your rabbit never got to enjoy the new palatial home. But that fantastic home will make some pets very happy

I stand by my recommendation, Torts make excellent pets
I'd of thought any Tortoise is specialist...

How long ago did you get your torty?

Arn't many species of tortoise now endangered species thanks to the pet trade?

You really have not got a clue have you! Why do you bother spouting information that is incorrect. Do your research.

No, not every tortoise is specialist. Yes they have to have special diets and yes they need heat and you have to be clued up on hibernaton etc but something like a Hermans or Lepoard arent that specialist.

We were looking at getting one next year, the whole set up would cost us about £250, and that was including tortoise and house.

I'd go for ferrets. I love them, and I do want a couple but unfortunately nana hates them with a passion so there won't be any arriving any time soon.

Pictures when they arrive

Actually I have been to two specialist stores and the averege toroise DOES go for around £200 I've never seen anything less so please step down from your high horse.

I have also looked at equiptment and its very expensive the DIY route would be much cheaper.

You can't just buy a tortoise either a good specialist would want to know you have the set up propperly before letting one go. As you said as well as others you need to be well informed before getting one you can't just pop one in the backgarden in a hutch hope it servives.

Yet again, you are generalising!

I dont think visiting 2 stores can give you a good average! Im not on a high horse. My horse is very short. You obviously have not looked around if you have not seen a tortoise for anything less than £200!

These are an example.

Funnily enough I was at one of our local garden centres only last week that has quite a large pet section and I was quite surprised when I noticed that they had tortoises for sale. They were priced at £125.
