Are Pyrex casserole dishes flameproof?

How can you tell if a casserole dish is flameproof?

No! no! no! it will shatter into a million piece. you would be better off with a frying pan or something similar. I think Visionware is though.

Thanks Elaine that seems to be the general consensus!

Le Creuset do them but they're so expensive Will just use a frying pan then

Fudge - to use it on the hob

Pyrex is ovenproof, but not "hob" proof

Well I was naughty and used one the other day on the hob... then tried the same with a non-pyrex one (my mums) and it bust!

It was Moroccan lamb with cous cous M&S style @ Elaine

LOL, Azz. I have visions of you with flame torch...

Le Creuset are fab. The best bit of cookware we own and still going strong after 15 years is a casserole. The lid has no knob and so can be used flipped over on the hob. You basically brown it all on the hob in the lid, add everything to the main dish then casserole. a one pot meal!

They seem expensive but are still going strong so worth spending the extra.Don't buy the non-stick stuff from them though as it does not last so well.
