Fishy bottom?

For the past few days my husband and I have been smelling a rather foul smell whilst watching TV, coming from Woody sleeping on the floor.

I thought it was his breath, but remembering something someone on here once said I have taken the pluunge and sniffed his butt.

I think it's coming from there! What is it?

Is it anal glands? He does wipe his bum on the floor about 2 or 3 times a week, but I've not noticed any other possible symptoms.

It's a very horrid smell so would be great to get to the bottom of it.

Oh, ha, just realised what I did there ;o)

Yes it sounds like anal glands to me if it is a sort of fishy smell.

Sounds very much like anal glands to me! I would pop him along to the vet and get him to empty them.

Does sound like anal glands.
Some vets will even show you how to express them, if your dog is likely to need this done regularly ( as did my first )

I think some groomers will do anal glands. I`d be looking at adding a bit more roughage to his food?

Why is it only in the evening that we can notice the smell?

Poor little chap. I'd better start getting him used to having his butt touched.

Does it hurt them? By being blocked or squeezing it out?
