The Green Mile was one that sticks out as being really sad. Beaches too. One of my favourite films is Stand by Me which is both sad and happy.

It had me in such tears.

Steven Stayner, a seven-year-old boy, is kidnapped by Reverend Kenneth Parnell, who brainwashes Steven into thinking that his parents don't want him anymore. For 7 years, Steven endures the sexual assaults of Reverend Parnell. Reverend Parnell kidnaps a 5 year old boy and Steven overhears what the man is telling the little boy and realizes that every thing the kidnapper told him about his parents was a lie. Steven is arrested for kidnapping when he takes the 5-year-old to the police station. During questioning, he tells cops his real name and helps put his kidnapper behind bars; meanwhile he is reunited with his family and has to adjust to being back. Steven has difficulty adjusting to the rules of his real family and decides to move out.
