this is a tricky one
a gentle smack on your own child is one thing when they are throwing a tantrum but smacking all the time for every little thing is another-

at the end of the day what is the difference between chastisement and physical abuse?

I agree a gentle smack shouldnt be frowned apon, i mean it certainly stops the behaviour quickly!

Well I warn my children 3 times if they are doing wrong, if they persisit in being norty then they stand up against the door frame hands behind their backs and are made to stand there for 5 minutes. This normally works. However, if they have done something really, really norty then yes I smack them.

I count to 3 Usually by the time I get to 2, they've stopped whatever it is they are doing ..never got to 3

Or I'll say 'I'm gonna brain you'..They look horrified..Tao,my eldest asked me recently what it meant and I just looked scared and said that I could,t tell him because it was so bad I don't know what it means or where it originated from .....
..anybody know?????
