plz help - my b/f ill and wont see a doctor

I need advice about my b/f, he's been unwell for a fair few months now, it seems to be getting progressively worse and he wont see a doctor.

He has been getting very severe headaches, which at first we thought were just migranes, but these became worse and now are so painful he is actually holding his head in his hands, screwing up his face and dropping things, and has even collapsed a few times, although it only really lasts a few seconds this bad he can have a bad headache for a while.

A few times when the pain has been really bad he said he could taste blood, and has felt a trickle of blood in his ear (once that I know of but he doesn't say really so I don't get too worried.)

It mainly happens if he has been doing something strenuous or if he has been arguing or worried or stressed about something, but it has happened for no apparent reason also. I've had to pick him up from work a couple of times because of it.

He also gets chest pains and has recently been finding it hard to catch his breath.

I have no idea why he wont see a doctor, he keeps saying he is fine and it's only migranes, he is a very stubborn guy, but for my sins I love him. It wasn't too bad at first but i'm really concerned now and not sure what I can do.

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Arr you are so concerned and worried i can read that, but you must get him to see a doctor as soon as possible!! It's not a few days as you have said, it's now been months.

What is it with guys and seeing the doctor ?

I really hope you manage to persuade him to go, if not it may be up to you to prompt a call from the doctor, or get his parents to intervene.

Good Luck x

Guy at work gets similar to what you've described there.. he often has to take oxygen.. he has a cilinder thing with him in his car at all times.. He's seen all kinds of specialists etc about it... Not sure what to advise but I do think he should go see a doctor... but you know what us blokes are like with that

i usually nag my oh to death about things like this untill he goes to the doctors to just shut me up.
try telling him that your really worried and its really upsetting you maybe he will go then

He is exactly like this, when he makes his mind up nothing will change it.

Have tried that and he just says it's nothing to worry about and he's fine. I asked him to go just to put my mind at rest, but nope.

I am the same, i was really ill a few years back and had go to a&e, i did not want to as i was worried i would be kept in, a fear of mine. A mate of mine convinced me be saying imagine all the fit nurses waiting on you. So you could try that approach. I wont say about the fit nurses though.

I won't see the doctor either - until it is nearly too late. i got chicken pox and according to the doctor I nearly ended up in ITU!

Have you gone to your GP? (Your B/F's) and explain what is happening, he may just 'pop in' or may suggest a way to get him seen.

I hope you get him put right soon.

Ian

I asked him to ring NHS direct and he wouldn't even do that, i'll ask him about this though and see if he will talk to SOMEONE about it.
