I've got a GFS saddle for my cob. I struggled to get one to fit her properly as she's such an awkward shape. I'd definately recommend that you get it fitted properly.

Good Luck

its worth putting in that extra bit of time like your doing, if you get the right saddle and its fitted properly it should last you a life time with that horse {though as the horse ages it may need a bit of stuffing added here or there to cope with the changing shape of an older horse but its still a lot cheaper than chopping and changing cheap saddles,

can we have some photos of the horse please...x

Hi there. We have two cobs and have got two Torsion treeless saddles as all we do is happy hacking. They are so comfy to ride in, one is nubuck leather, the other is suede, both really nice.

Not heard of Torsion. Im keen on Wintec at the mo as they are adjustable for both my horses and swede plus no leather to clean etc.
Im getting fitted for my birthday, a present from my fam.

These are Torions
http://www.torsionsaddles.co.uk/tors...saddles-GP.php

I've had Wintec in the past and even the widest gullet wasn't wide enough. The Thorowgood Griffin Cob extra wide fitted ok, but I found it was like sitting on a brick (boney bum I am).

Good luck with the fitting, let us know what you go for

Thank you for that link, they really appeal but the cost is a bit expensive.
Ive been in touch with a saddle fitter who like you said the wintec wont fit my cobs and go for the thorowgood. £375 with fitting, but friends on the farm say they are not that great.
Torsion it may well be if thats the case as the suede is more important.
I split up with a friend of mine the other day and my oldest boy was jumping like a rabbit in heat. I only managed to stay on by holding the pommel.

Hi, yes they are a bit pricey, but there are other treeless saddles that fit wide cobs. A girl on my forum uses another brand, they look very similar but are a cheaper version, she loves them and has had no problems. my forum is the same name as my username if you google it and join

Tha bad thing about suede is that they hold a lot of dust and the horse hairs stick!!! I cleaned Tink's yesterday and had to use gaffa tape to get rid of the hairs but the dust just keeps coming..and its cleaned a couple of times a month!

Nubuck is fine, no hairs stick to them
