Injured dog 'protected' by another dog!

Police in New York arrived to tend to a dog which had been hit by a car and was lying injured on a main road, and found another dog apparently protecting the wounded animal.

When police got the injured animal into their vehicle the second dog ran alongside them - before it disappeared. The injured dog survived, but had a broken leg.

Why didn't they take both dogs? They appear to be together.

That's actually reallly upsetting Azz.

1. They don't show how they managed to get to the injured dog.
2. There is every reason to believe they were together.
3. They just left the other to run about on a dangerous busy road!!

I wish I hadn't seen that now.

I noticed they had a dog catcher - perhaps it was not possible to catch it in that open space, who knows?

I too thought about them not taking the uninjured dog. Maybe though it was due to the time restraint on getting the injured dog tretaed quickly.

Looks like they tried to catch the second dog (man with a catch pole) but couldn't. Priority was getting the injured dog to a vet. I'm sure someone continued to try to catch the other dog that was obviously showing aggression towards the officers. I don't see where they acted badly at all by leaving the other dog.

The accompanying report now states that the two dogs were later reunited.
