i need to rehome my borzoi

i will keep her till after xmas, but my living arrangements have changed and i can no longer keep her, at the moment she is living outside kenneled with my 2 lurchers, she has become very possesive of the kennel and has frequently bitten my 2 lurchers and left their faces scared. I can't seperate them and i can't have her indoors as it isn't my house, if she was in indoors i wouldn't have a problem as i never had. She will be 5 years old in january and i have had her since 6 months old. She is a very nervous dog at best, but once she gets to know you she is very loving and loyal, this decision has took a little while to make as i have put alot of work into her, she was an even worse a nervous wreck when i got her, totally unsocialised, she used to wet herself in fear, she will not be going back to her breeder. She was spayed about 3 years ago also. It is going to break my heart to see her go, but i have to think of all the dogs welfare. She hasn't had a great deal of socialising around children, but she's absolutely fine with children over 10 years old.

Why not contact Borzoi rescue , they may be able to help you rehome her to suitable people

I agree with Fernsmum, contact a Borzoi rescue and see if they can help. Is there no way you could get a separate kennel for her to keep her separate from the lurchers?

What a sad situation. Unfortunately, she also sounds as though she won't be the easiest dog to rehome

Can i just check - as you had her from 6 months old does that mean she came from a rescue? Just in case that's the case most rescues insist that a dog comes back to them. Anyway that might not be the case and i wish you lucky in finding a home. There's somewhere else you might want to try advertising - PM me for details.

Thankyou for the support and advice. I will get in touch with the borzoi rescue.

There is no way i can have another kennel, it was hard enough getting one at all, if i didn't have this one i wouldn't be able to keep my lurchers either, it's not my house, i pushed my luck with the first kennel.

I know she isn't going to be the easiest to rhome, but i think a retired couple would suit her the best.

No she's not from a rescue, she came from a breeder. The breeder kept 2 puppies from her litter until they were 6 months and decided my girl would not suit her anymore. Not a very responsible breeder, or else i wouldn't of had so many problems with her in the beginning.

I have just phoned the breed club rescue and felt like an idiot crying down the phone, the lady is going to help as much as she can, she also knew her breeder but she died last year.

Am glad she is going to try and help but please don't feel like an idiot for crying. i am sure the rescue woman totally understands - as do we all that this is a horrendous decision for you to have to make. The people on Dogsey understand that losing your dog for whatever reason is losing a member of your household.
Many people on here have had to go through similar situations or those they can relate to yours.

We are all here for your tears and will listen and do our best to comfort.

big hugs.
