How do You tell the Difference

How can I tell whether my saucepans are stainless steel or aliminum?

I think a magnet will stick to stainless steel but not to alliminium?

Also aliminium is easier to scratch than stainless steel, so you could try to scratch the side of the pan, and if it scratches easily then it will be aliminium?
