Dutch ate a box of Thorntons chocolates today

I got home and found the empty box in one of the bedrooms. completely my fault, the box was left on top of a chest of drawers, I didn't realise he could reach that high! I got straight on the phone to the vets, they kept me on the phone for a good 15 minutes asking tonnes of questions, they eventually said to keep a very close eye on him and that I should expect diarrhoea and/or vomitting.

he seems fine in himself, still playful, but the diarrhoea has started, I'm guessing it's going to be a long night.

hopefully nothing serious

I know, I think my heart stopped when I saw the empty box. I'm usually so careful when it comes to things like this.

I know that all dogs are different, but if it is any comfort our last and dearly missed dog (who died at a ripe old age) in her time ate:

a whole tray of uncooked mince pies
a box of dates plus stones
a whole chocolate cake
a tray of uncooked garlic bread (frozen)
a box of dark chocolates
a dish of rat poison
a whole loaf of bread.........bar one crust
plus endless other foods that dogs are really not supposed to eat.

She never once suffered even hiccups, nor had the grace to be sick. This being a dog that had to have Hills Science Diet for several years because any other dog food just didn't agree with her!!!!!

All I am trying to say is that with luck there will be no cause for panic, and I really hope that all will be well.

good luck
