That's fair enough if videos are your thing as it all helps.

Have you looked into the cost of training classes? I learnt the hard way with my lab, she had a multitude of problems when I got her, I was a little short on cash and was sure I could cope, I read everything under the son but I still made mistakes.

This time I have gone to a training class, it is only £3.00 per week for half an hour but it is making sure I don't make the same mistakes again, the trainer spots things I dont like when I'm not consistent or if my body language is off.

I'd definatley recommend some sort of class even if it was only for a few weeks.

Also have a look at the article Smokey bear has posted on recall (its on my thread 'bonding advice??...')

Keira's recall is ok as she is 'velcro' dog but she won't come when she is playing so I have to go get her I've not tried calling her when she's sleeping yet, we're still in the house as well so I know we have a loooooong way to go

Good luck xx

I would very much advise training classes amoungst home training - epecially with a first puppy. It can work out very cost effective in the long run (put in the training now and reap the rewards later).

Maybe look for classes which hold the Kennel Club puppy/bronze/silver/gold classes/awards. Gives you the stepping stone to progress up the ladder, also should set you up for a (hopefully) well mannered socalised dog if you go to the right class.

Well in the long run you could be saving yourself a lot of money. £60 is nothing for all the training/socialisation etc you and more importantly pup would benefit from. What about going on a train and finding a class further afield- there are enough of them about.... I live not too far from Southend, and know between there and Chelmsford there are training classes, some of which do the KC Dog training.

If you can't afford £60 how are you going to afford the pups jabs? food? worming amongst other bits and pieces?
