I totally agree with Mini's thinking as well - colour should be added through accessories

I have neutral curtains and have tied pine cones on wire to use them as tie backs - it may sound naff but it really gives the room a earthy feel - I love natural colours
We need long curtains for the patio end - Loki doesn't chew curtains but he may well chew the ties . He will certainly cover everything in mud anyway.

Are they natural pine cones that you found in the woods? I think that is a lovely idea. You could varnish them to preserve them.

I would definately go for cream or pale colours it will keep the room looking fresh and open you could still have a pale colour with a hint of your accent colour.

i love decorating. take pics!

Got them from the florist before Christmas last year - people use them to tie onto wreaths etc but I thought they looked lovely on my curtains and so they stayed

Mind you I have earth tones in our house - dark chocolate leather chairs and dark table with cream curtains etc...you get the gest of it, the creams compliment the browns, hence the dark coloured pine cones accentuating the cream/beige curtains

Oh that sounds lovely. I was going to go for a woodland walk with Loki tomorrow and search for pine cones but maybe I'll wait for Christmas and my local garden centre

Seriously - it is a lovely and unique idea.
