Oooooh I bought a homes mag the other day, some great ideas for victorian bathrooms/kitchens etc in there.

I'd always opt to go a bit more traditional.

I have the waterfall taps on a very modern L shaped bath and square sink, but if I had a roll-top bath I'd have definitely gone for the traditional ones.

I think on that style you have to go for matching and traditional taps.

I've got similar taps on my butler sink and they're not the easiest to clean cos our water is so hard and they leak a bit.

My future choice would be modern with waterfall taps.

Another vote for traditional here.

(I also have a Victorian house that someone "updated" in the 70s... total nightmare. First thing I did was put an open fireplace back in).

Thanks guys, I too am swaying towards traditional, it just seems to fit better. Although hail to J&C for rebelling! I do still want waterfall taps but I want my roll top bath more. I'll put some photos up if/when my bathroom ever gets done!

I think the water fall taps will look odd on a roll top bath.

Lets not forget , you may want to wash your hair in the bath and the mixer (traditional) one will allow you to do so.

Plus they go with the style of the bath.

Teehee I do enjoy a bit of rebellion! We went along the same vein as you, keep a lot of it traditional and maintain a lot of period features, but some of it is modern too. I'll take pics we can compare xxxxx

I think I swaying back!!!! We've moved the bathroom around ( removing the old water tank has given us more space to play with) and the bath is moving away from the corner and will be placed centrally in front of the window. It'll be framed really nicely there and will be the first thing you see when you walk in. The change in position has prompted us to move towards a double ended bath, for symmetry and that means that the taps will be mounted on free standing pipes in the middle of the bath. I was 99% set on traditional taps but with the new bath, I'm thinking that waterfall taps would look ok. And at the end of the day, it's going to be mostly me looking at them, not anyone else

So I might be joining J&C in Camp Rebellion Oh what would the Victorians say!

I think whatever you want. As its your home, but if you are looking to stay there then buy something that pleases your heart as well as your eye.
