The pink slime is nothing to do with ammonium hydroxide - it's the result of mechanically separating meat that creates the pink "slime", which is then treated with small amounts ammonium hydroxide as an anti-microbial agent.

Nothing like a bit of unfounded hysteria eh!

I solve this issue by avoiding all fast food, I can't be the only person in the country that hates the taste of it? (I also can't see the point in chips and I'm not fussed by pizza unless it's thin and covered in fresh veg).

I'm with you Roofs, I prefer my meat and two veggies thanks, coz I know what I'm putting into it. I have had a Burger King once, OMG, that divine taste will stay with me forever, but thankfully, we don't have a Burger King anywhere near us but I will have another if we happen to pass one, I'll be pulling in! Very, very rarely though, about once a year we do the take away thing, it's not so much the food that bothers me, it's more the preparation, I've watched too many tv programmes with those filthy kitchens to put me off for life.

Maybe it's coz I've had that campylobacter once from having a meal out in an iffy restaurant in Spain, it scares me now, I'd have to check out the kitchen before ordering lol!

I'll stick with my home made burgers, that way I know exactly what is in them.
