Yep, exactly the same with Baruska but Rianna was clever and learned PDQ to roll over and after a few months Bara didn't need to discipline her. They lived together with never a major row but were never close the way Rianna and Casey are now.

It's comming up to my bedtime so I bid you all goodnight, see you tomorrow I hope

Brenda - Pleased to hear that your trip out was a success all the better really as you weren't really looking forward to it. Turned out nice again as George Formby used to say.
Evening Harvey - I believe in the pack leader thing as well but struggle with your theory that dogs will only attack another one with human instigation. My big lad would do his level best to kill another dog that came near either myself or one of "his" three bitches. As regards this he is a positive liability and he has certainly never been taught it, I've had him from 8weeks old and he was thoroughly socialised. Fortunately he has excellent recall and never goes towards another dog or bitch. It is if they come to him that all hell breaks out, as I spend the vast majority of my time on private land it is little or no problem, until you get some fool who thinks their dog should be allowed to run up to and challenge another dog irrespective of where they are. Of course, it could be that there is some significant psychological flaw in his make-up (I've settled for this explanation as I can think of no other). I treat all my other dogs in an identical fashion and they are all reasonably sociable with both other dogs and people. Fagin's breeding is a straight first cross between Scottish Deerhound (noted for their amicable temperament) and an ex-track Irish bred greyhound bitch, who is now kept has a pet and has a lovely nature. So I cannot for the life of me see where his belligerance comes from. He was bitten in the face by a bull-type bitch when he was 10 months old, but showed no mental ill effects, his aberrant behaviour started in earnest when he was around 14 months old.
Bye fer now.

Kota is fine now thanks, it was just swelling, I did wash her with hibiscrub just to be sure but all seems fine...she has been playing with seats all night
LG, you are right I think he shouldn't have had kids...I know I shouldn't laugh but he has a squeaky voice and hearing him shout nearly makes me hyperventilate
Brenda, good to hear dinner was o.k...not so much about the dog
Hi and bye Harvey
Right, that's me done.goodnight all

Yes Gordon, it seems to start then if it's going to, Cariad was the same, still is,no one allowed near me or her pack. Makes it worse with the types who allow their dogs to run up and bark in her and Lona's faces as it really kicks off then, if the other dog doesn't bark at them or come near they are fine and will carry on past them. Had a lot of dogs over the years and its nothing to do with how you bring them up. Was discussing this with the lady who has Kodiak, one of Zens brothers, very experienced lady had GSDs all her life and she says the same, every so often you get a one off, they are not bad dogs, they are not dangerous dogs, they just like things to go their way. She is or was an excellent mother, is brilliant with puppies and young children and people in general. Bad experience with 2 collies owned by eejits and an English bull terrier has given her a pathological hatred of them, but I am dreading losing her because with Lona she is my rock

June - I have no doubt it is exactly as you and the GSD lady say. I try and put it down to an exaggerated sense of protective responsibilty (right! well it sounds good!)
Trouble with Fagin is that he's the reason no one will deliver to the house. So it crosses over to people as well.
Wouldn't be without him though as I can do literally anything with him and not the slightest grumble he acts like a seven and a half stone puppy when he's with me (he's now 4) it's the rest of the world he dislikes.
They do say that you live with them till you get like them! lol !
Goodnight from me, take care and see you all tomorrow.
